The Celtic Cottage Pub and Patio Bar is owned and operated by Kevin Martin (a former NYC Mortgage-Backed Securities Broker) and his wife, Maureen (a former NYC Consultant). Kevin, the son of Michael Martin originally from Tullamore, Ireland in County Offaly and Margaret Lee Martin from Manorhamilton, Ireland in County Leitrim, had always dreamed of owning an Irish pub. The dream of owning a traditional Irish pub became a reality in April of 1995 when Kevin purchased the former Happy Pickle and what was known as Moran’s Pub prior to that located in the West End of Long Branch. (Kevin and Maureen have four children: Michael, Aidan, Connor and Mairead.)
The Celtic’s brick facade is painted white with black shutters, red flower baskets and a red door reminiscent of a Dublin pub. The northbound side of the building had been painted by a local artist to resemble a scene right out of the rolling green hills of the Emerald Isle. The inside of the Cottage features a high-beamed ceiling and walls of rough-cut pinewood. There is a display of flags representing all 32 counties of Ireland hanging from the beams of the ceiling along with a display of Irish Whiskey Decanters (empty, of course!) that bode well for conversation. Why not come in for a visit ‘where the fire is hot, the beer is cold, and a story lasts longer than your drink.”
